Support City Hospice with Gift Aid: Make Your Donation Go Further

At City Hospice, every donation helps us provide essential care and support to those with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families. Did you know that your donation could have an even bigger impact at no extra cost to you? By signing up for Gift Aid, we can claim an additional 25p for every £1 you donate.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that allows charities like City Hospice to claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate, without costing you a penny more. If you’re a UK taxpayer, simply letting us know you’re eligible means your donation will go further and help even more people in need of our care.

How Does Gift Aid Work?

It’s easy! If you are a UK taxpayer, all you need to do is tick the Gift Aid box when you make a donation, whether online, in person, or in one of our charity shops. Once you confirm that you’re eligible, we can claim an extra 25% on top of your donation from the government. For example, if you donate £10, City Hospice can claim an additional £2.50, bringing your total contribution to £12.50!

Who Can Sign Up for Gift Aid?

You can sign up for Gift Aid if:

  • You are a UK taxpayer.
  • You have paid at least as much Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in the tax year as the amount we will reclaim on your donations.

If you stop paying enough tax, it’s important to let us know so we can stop claiming Gift Aid on your donations.

Why is Gift Aid Important?

Gift Aid is an invaluable source of additional income for City Hospice, allowing us to raise more funds to continue our vital work. Every year, Gift Aid makes a significant difference, enabling us to provide more specialist care, nursing support, and emotional guidance to patients and their families.

How to Sign Up for Gift Aid

  1. Online Donations: Simply fill out the form below or tick the Gift Aid box during the online donation process.
  2. In Our Shops: Ask for a Gift Aid declaration form when you donate items to any of our charity shops, and we can claim Gift Aid on the sale of your donated goods.
  3. By Post: You can download a Gift Aid declaration form from our website, fill it out, and return it to us by post.

Already Donated?

If you have donated in the past but haven’t signed up for Gift Aid, it’s not too late! We can claim Gift Aid on donations made in the past four years, as long as you were eligible during that time.

Help Us Do More

By signing up for Gift Aid, you’re helping City Hospice provide more care to patients and their families, with no extra cost to you. It’s a simple way to make your support go further and ensure we can continue to be there for those who need us most.

Gift Aid Declaration

If you have any questions regarding Gift Aid, please contact 02920 524150 or email fundraising@cityhospice.org.uk.

Please notify City Hospice if you:

  • want to cancel your declaration
  • change your name or home address
  • no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains

If you pay income tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your self-assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.

Gift Aid For Sponsored Events

If you are raising funds for City Hospice by taking part in a sponsored event, we can claim Gift Aid on donations collected from sponsors who are tax payers. Your sponsors will need to provide their full name and home address, and tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form. By doing so, they are confirming that they pay more in income or capital gains tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all their donations in the last year.
