Thank you for raising funds in aid of City Hospice
We want to ensure that you enjoy the experience of fundraising for City Hospice. Below we have included some information to support your fundraising and to help ensure that you, your friends, family, and the general public remain safe.
Talk to us
If you have not done so already, please contact the City Hospice Fundraising team, we would love to hear about your ideas, support you in your fundraising, and talk about how we can help you.
Looking for Ideas on Fundraising
Perhaps you really want to support City Hospice but you are not too sure how you would like to fundraise. We have lots of ideas on our website Fundraise for City Hospice or why not get in touch and talk to a member of the team.
Promoting your event or activity
We encourage you to tell people about your support of City Hospice. This will help us to spread the word about our work and to raise funds. On posters, social media or general correspondence please use the term ‘in aid of City Hospice’, this helps to show that you are supporting Cardiff’s local hospice.
Keeping you safe
We hope that every event or activity will run smoothly and be a great success. The key to achieving this is to create a plan of how the activity will run.
You must consider safety issues and whether you will need insurance for your fundraising activity. Creating a risk assessment is a simple way of addressing possible risks and how to reduce these or remove them completely.
The Health and Safety Executive have provided a Risk Assessment template which is available to download from their website Risk assessment: Template and examples – HSE.
For your risk assessment, please consider all potential risks. This exercise will help you to identify things that could go wrong in advance and how you can ensure everyone will remain safe.
For events, it is a good idea to consider first aid supplies and qualified first aiders if possible. Many venues will have considered this, but please make sure emergency evacuation procedures are in place and that there is adequate access for people with disabilities.
You may need public liability insurance if your event involves the public. Your venue may already have this insurance, so please check this with them. If you are using suppliers, you should ask for a copy of their risk assessment and public liability insurance.
If food is involved we recommend that you visit Providing food at community and charity events | Food Standards Agency for advice.
Licenses
Some fundraising activities will require a license or permissions to be granted. Whilst this list is not exclusive, this may be for a raffle, a bucket collection, to serve alcohol or play music at an event. Please contact a member of the City Hospice team and we will be happy to discuss this with you.
Alternatively, please contact Cardiff Council’s licensing department for further information: Licences and Permits (cardiff.gov.uk)
COVID
The Covid Pandemic has impacted fundraising activities throughout the country. As guidance changes from time to time we ask that you refer to the Welsh Government website for up-to-date advice:
