City Hospice is proud to welcome Welsh International Endurance Athlete Olivia Tsim to #TeamHospice as she takes on the Cardiff Half Marathon this October in memory of her dad, Tony.
A talented long-distance runner, Olivia has represented Wales on numerous occasions, showcasing her dedication and athleticism. Off the track, she is equally accomplished, working as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant and serving as Head of Finance.
Olivia’s running journey began as a sprinter, but she discovered her passion for long-distance running as a way to relieve stress. She ran her first half marathon in 2019, finishing in an impressive 1:44. Since then, she has gone from strength to strength, achieving a personal best of 1:13 and finishing as the second Welsh woman in last year’s Cardiff Half Marathon. Just five weeks after giving birth, she claimed a silver Welsh medal, a testament to her determination and resilience.
This year, Olivia is taking on the race for a deeply personal reason. City Hospice provided care and support to her dad, Tony, before he sadly passed away in 2023. The Cardiff Half Marathon takes place just nine days before what would have been Tony’s 66th birthday, and Olivia, along with her family, will be lacing up their trainers to raise money and awareness for City Hospice in his memory.
Speaking about her decision to run for City Hospice, Olivia said:
“City Hospice was there for my dad and our family during the most difficult time. Their support meant the world to us, and I want to give something back. Running the Cardiff Half in his memory feels like the perfect way to honour him and help others”.
In the lead-up to race day, Olivia will also be sharing her top training tips, advice, and motivation with fellow #TeamHospice runners.
