City Hospice Volunteers are out and about in the community supporting Forever Flowers  to raise awareness of this very special campaign.

At City Hospice our volunteers play a vital role in our charity and we couldn’t manage without their support. Some of our ‘events’  volunteers are supporting our Forever Flowers campaign by being out in the community spreading the word.

Maurice and Enfys, amongst others, can be seen pounding the streets chatting to people and business about Forever Flowers and Maurice talks to us about the campaign:

“You may have seen us going from shop to shop with a bag full of leaflets. We are spreading the news about City Hospice’s Forever Flowers campaign. It can be quite tiring but we are nearly always well received and we think back to why we are doing it.

Our partners were looked after and so were we

Sadly our respective partners passed away three years ago. Both we and our families were supported by City Hospice. Not only did our partners receive amazing care that meant they could pass away at home amongst their loved ones, but we were given counselling and support to help us through the dark days that followed.

Chatting to people about Forever Flowers we realised how many people are excited by the opportunity to commemorate the memory of loved ones from years ago, and many as a tribute to those lost in the current pandemic, that they may not have even personally met.

Forever Flowers is a wonderful way to celebrate someone’s life, a display of gaily crafted flowers displayed in the stunning grounds of our own Castle. So we’re looking forward to the display  and taking our own flowers home . Some will place the flowers in their gardens, some at their loved one’s grave or memorial sites, and some will give them to family and friends. The flowers will be a lasting tribute to someone you love. We’ll be volunteering at Cardiff  Castle during the display and hope to see you there.

Daisy Magill, Fundraising Officer said:

” We’re so grateful of the support that Maurice and Enfys give us, along with our other events volunteers too. They always volunteer with such enthusiasm and pride to be part of our team and we really couldn’t be without them”
