Cardiff’s local hospice would like to say a massive thank you to The Copthorne Hotel in Cardiff for raising a fantastic £2,650 for them over the Christmas period.

The hotel, based near Culverhouse Cross, signed the City Hospice Platinum Pledge, where they pledged to raise £1,000 for the hospice which helps patients with life-limiting illnesses in their own homes.

They have already smashed this target, thanks to General Manager, Ben Underwood, running the Cardiff Half Marathon and various raffles which were held at their Christmas parties throughout December.

Lilly Amphlett, Event Sales Manager at The Copthorne Hotel, said that they thoroughly enjoyed working with City Hospice over the festive season. “Raising money, through raffles and charity cloakroom donations, giving our Christmas Party Nights an added meaning while also creating a great atmosphere for our guests to participate. The fundraising activities brought our team closer together and have inspired us to continue to raise money for such an amazing cause. Our next challenge is to run the 2019 Cardiff Half Marathon as a team to further support the charity.”

During one of these Christmas parties, one of its guests donated an outstanding £700 to Cardiff’s leading charity. Kevin Francis, Managing Director of Engineering Services Bridgend, held a charity raffle which his employees took part in.

He said “We held a raffle at work and donated £700 for the first prize, which would be given to a charity of the winner’s choice. Employees at Engineering Services Bridgend bought raffle tickets (costing £10 each) and we gave the money raised to a local charity, on this occasion it was City Hospice. We want to say well done to City Hospice for the care being given to people during very difficult times.”
