We’re really excited about the Dog Furiendly Pup Quiz being held in aid of us on Thursday 22nd November from 7pm at the Pen and Wig. And the best bit? Four legged friends are welcome!

Dog Furiendly was launched in January 2018 by Founder, Adele Pember. Adele found that leaving her little dog, Charlie, made him have terrible separation anxiety so she decided to take him out with her as much as possible. Adele found that her and Charlie weren’t alone. Leaving the dog behind is a situation over 8.5 million dog parents face in the UK every single day. The organisation surveyed 500 dog owners across the UK. 99% said there was a need for this service, 94% want more dog related social events and 65% had never heard of a website that offers this service.

After its launched earlier this year, Dog Furiendly now lists thousands of pubs, cafes, restaurants, shops and events across Wales and the rest of the UK that welcome furry friends with open arms…and treats! It’s a platform created by the community, encouraging dog owners to share their experiences, both the good and the bad, to ensure no dog gets left behind when it isn’t necessary.

Jamie Hobbs, Dog Furiendly Explorer, is very excited about the event. “Working with local charities is something that Dog Furiendly loves to get involved with and when Adele put the idea across for one of the explorers to get involved in this particular collaboration, I jumped at the chance since City Hospice is a charity extremely close to my heart. I believe that dogs make a huge difference to hospice patients & their families and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to highlight that by bringing the two together.

On Thursday 22nd November we will be joining forces with City Hospice to bring you a Pub Quiz like no other – 7pm at the Pen & Wig, Cardiff. It will work the same as any other pub quiz but you get to share it with your dog.

Everybody will be put into teams, there will be a number of rounds with questions from different categories. And then a bonus round at the end to add a bit of fun. Up until now our Dog Furiendly quiz questions have all been dog related but I think I may throw some non-dog ones in there too, just to mix things up a little.

For the quiz we have had support from the amazing team at Pen & Wig who are kindly hosting us for the night. We also have Tom Harper Photography coming along to take photos for us.”

Dog Furiendly have been given raffle donations from companies such as, Bad to the BoneHouse of Harrie HattieSethBowsGarwnant Visitor Centre and the Pen & Wig.

Daisy Magill, our Fundraising Officer, said “Thank you very much to Adele and her team of ambassadors for hosting this ‘Charity Pup Quiz’ in aid of City Hospice. Just two months on from our first meeting and we have launched the first part of our fundraising and creating awareness idea. Adele and I are very excited and cannot wait to launch the next part of our project later this month –keep your eyes peeled!”

To take part in the quiz, get your tickets (just £5 per human, pups go FREE) from Eventbrite by clicking here.
