Gareth and Teresa from Hodge Bank are taking on the 100 Heroes Challenge to support City Hospice.
Two staff at Hodge Bank are Hospice Heroes! Gareth is running 200 miles in February and March; and Teresa is taking on the ‘couch to 5k’ challenge. They are both doing amazingly well and we are so grateful for their support!
Teresa explains:
“City Hospice is an excellent charity with links to the Hodge Foundation and they provided valuable palliative care at home to both by parents as well as supporting the family especially with bereavement support.
I have chosen the Couch-5K challenge, which started in January, and is taking a little longer than anticipated and now expect to finish at the end of June.
I’m excited about getting fit! Nervous about injury and the time it will take get achieve my fitness goals. I haven’t run for over 30 years and I’m not very fit!
I would recommend anyone to get involved and take on a personal challenge for City Hospice provides excellent support and during the pandemic charities have been hit hard, it feels so good giving a little something back and a distraction from the current lockdowns!”
Gareth tells us:
“Working at Hodge Bank, I’ve had the opportunity to hear so much about City Hospice. They do incredible work across Cardiff. To be able contribute in any way to the continuation of that is truly a great motivation for me to get involved in the 100 Heroes Challenge.
I have opted to run 100 miles each month for February & March, forcing me to get out of my usual comfort zone and push myself with a challenge.
I’m excited about the opportunity to do something that could support City Hospice. The evenings are gradually getting lighter too so I’m not running in the dark as often!
I am encouraging anyone and everyone to get involved. You set your own challenge so there is a personal motivation factor in it for you, and any support you help to gather will contribute to the exceptional work that City Hospice do!”
