City Hospices raises over £19,000 and lights up the streets in 10k Sparkle Walk to help memories of loved ones shine
City Hospice hosted their first Sparkle Walk, a 10k night-time walk on Saturday 21st September 2019.
Over 250 members of the Cardiff community came together to walk in memory of loved ones, and also in support of the work of City Hospice.
Walkers were provided with a T-Shirt on which they could write the names of their loved one. These T-shirts were worn by everyone taking part as well as many participants donning fairy lights and carrying glow sticks. The 10k walk started at Insole Court in Llandaff at 9pm. Participants then headed to City Hospice in Whitchurch before returning back to Insole Court to receive a much deserved medal and Goody bag . The Sparkle Walkers were also given the opportunity to leave a message for their loved one in the hospice’s Memory Garden. The garden was generously provided by Pugh’s Garden Village.
Daisy Magill, Events & Fundraising Coordinator said:
“We have had so many lovely comments and messages about the event. The awareness it has raised of City Hospice is fantastic. We were so pleased to welcome members of the community to Ty Hosbis to demonstrate what a warm and welcoming environment it is.
