Gladstone Primary School has shown that anyone can join in and support local hospice nurses with Donate a Day campaign. Pupils and teachers at the school located in Heath, engaged in a dress up day to raise money and donate a total of 2 days of City Hospice nursing care.

Donate a Day Gladstone pupils Celebrating their local heroes, pupils came to class dressed up as their heroes from the community. Among the heroes identified by the three to 11-year-olds were local police officers, firemen, doctors, and nurses. Gladstone Primary School ran two concerts for families of school pupils to attend as well as holding a bake sale.

When discussing the initiative, pupils Halima and Aaisha said: “We are a caring school and we want to share our love and support in the local community.”

Mrs Shipton-Jones, Head teacher at Gladstone Primary School said: “Our dress-up day has been a true success. IDonate a Day Gladstone pupilst was great to see pupil’s excitement in dressing up as their local heroes. We really saw some incredible outfits throughout the day.

“We are so excited to donate this money to the nurses at City Hospice. They work incredibly hard and we hope that by funding a few days of nursing care we can help them continue caring for Cardiff.

“We usually fundraise for three charities every school year and are proud to make City Hospice one of them. Not only is this a great way for us to raise funds for City Hospice, it also teaches our pupils the importance of charities and how their contributions help those who need it the most.

“When we first heard about Donate A Day, we were keen to get involved. There is a City Hospice charity shop close to our school. Many pupils were already familiar with the charity and wanted to partake in a big fundraiser.

Donate a Day Gladstone pupils Thanks to the pupils £330 was raised in aid of City Hospice nurses, covering 2 days of nursing care.
