Newlyweds Dan and Kay chose to support City Hospice on their wedding day by asking guests to donate to the hospice in lieu of buying them gifts.

The generosity of their family and friends resulted in an incredible £3,160 being donated to the hospice. £150 will go towards Donate a Day in which Dan and Kay will kindly fund a day of nursing care by one of our specialist nurses on their anniversary date, the 30th April 2023.

Dan told us:

“We had decided that we didn’t want to have a gift list, and instead we wanted to support a charity. Sadly, we have both had family and friends who have died of cancer, so it was important to us to support a local charity, and one that supports people with cancer.”

Dan and Kay have previously fundraised for City Hospice by taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon back in 2017, raising an amazing £397.50. When thinking of a charity to support on their wedding day, Dan and Kay, decided once again to support Cardiff’s local hospice.

Dan adds:

“City Hospice was the charity we chose back in 2017 for all the fantastic work they do in the local community, and we were really happy to support them once again.”

Dan and Kay got married on April 30th, 2022, at the beautiful Westminster Abbey and were joined by 90 guests. With Dan being from Cardiff and Kay from France, family and friends had travelled from many locations to London to celebrate the joyous occasion with the happy couple.

City Hospice Fundraising Coordinator Lauren Guy said:

“Thank you so much to Daniel and Kay for sharing their special day with us and Donating a Day on their anniversary. We’re overwhelmed by the generosity of their friends and family who have donated such an incredible amount of money, so thank you to them too.  Their donations will help us continue to provide care for the people of Cardiff who are battling a life-limiting illness. We’d like to wish Dan and Kay every happiness for the future in their married life, and our heartfelt congratulations!”
