Katie is taking to the skies for City Hospice!
Katie Vaughan is braving a skydive in August to raise vital funds for City Hospice in loving memory of her Godfather Mike Fenton who sadly passed away in 2018.
Katie told us:
“City Hospice has a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, in 2017 my godfather was diagnosed with terminal cancer and lost his battle in September 2018. City Hospice were there to support our family through a really difficult time and continue to offer support to many families going through the same thing.

Katie and fellow skydiver Michelle
I have taken part in a few City Hospice fundraising events, like the Sparkle Walk which is a great event to get involved with. Most recently I volunteered at the Wag This Way sponsored dog walk that took place in March this year. I feel proud to be a part of helping City Hospice to continue offering support and guidance to people like my Godfather and their families.
I have always wanted to do a skydive. I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie and love rollercoasters and thought it would be a really good way to (hopefully) raise a lot of money for City Hospice. I did an indoor skydive a few years ago and loved it so want to do the real deal!”
Katie will be doing the jump with her manager and friend Michelle. She added:
“I was shocked at how quickly she agreed to do the skydive with me! I’m more excited than nervous at the moment, although I think when I am actually in the plane about to jump out, that’s when I’ll start to question my decision!
My aim is to raise £500 for City Hospice. I am already halfway to my target so I think it’s definitely achievable!”
Fundraising Coordinator Lauren Guy said:
“Thank you so much to Katie for taking on a skydive for City Hospice – you’re certainly braver than I am! I’m sure it will be an unforgettable experience, and every penny raised will help us continue to care for Cardiff. Thank you, Katie!”
