Every year, the Joint Captains of Llanishen Golf Club each choose a charity to support. Last June, Ladies Captain Lindsay Weare chose City Hospice as her Charity of the Year, and we are delighted to announce they raised £4,150 in aid of our charity.
The members clubbed together to raise money for City Hospice with a range of different events. From raffles and fundraising days to sales of golfing equipment and challenges.
Lindsay told us:
“One of the privileges of being Club Captain is being able to raise money for your chosen charity. I chose City Hospice as they are a great local charity that does amazing work in our community. I have seen first-hand what a great support they were when my Mother-in-law recently passed away. I know that every penny that has been raised will help support someone else in need. I feel really proud we have raised such a great amount to help such a worthy cause.
We feel honoured to use the money raised to pay for 2 days of nursing care provided by the whole team of Clinical Nurse Specialists in support of the excellent care provided to the people of Cardiff when they need it the most”
Amanda Fenton, Marketing and Fundraising Director at City Hospice said:
“A special thank you to Lindsay for choosing City Hospice as your Charity of the Year and to all the members at Llanishen Golf Club who got involved in all the fundraising events. You raised such a fantastic amount and will make a huge difference to our work. Thank you to everyone who donated!”
