Easy ways to give on the run up to Christmas…
We are extremely grateful to our wonderful supporters, who give their time, effort and money to City Hospice throughout the year. There are many easy ways to give to City Hospice on the lead up to Christmas, many of which don’t involve you spending a penny, here are a few ideas:
Buy your Christmas Gifts online
If you purchase from Amazon, please use their Amazon Smile website. The online retailer will make a donation back to City Hospice at no additional cost to you, every time you make a purchase. Remember to select City Hospice as your preferred charity. Our Charity Registration Number is 1023311. Or use EasyFundraising to shop major highstreet brands. These stores will make a donation back to City Hospice.
Purchase Charity Christmas Cards
Ok, yes you would be spending money, however if you were going to buy Christmas Cards anyway, why not choose a pack of City Hospice Christmas Cards and show that you support Cardiff’s local hospice. Cards are on sale at our 7 charity shops and online
Donate your unwanted items to one of our Charity Shops
That vintage handbag could be someone else’s treasure. Those clothes that you’ll never wear again might be perfect for one of our other customers. And better still, if you gift aid your donation, we can claim an additional 25% of the sale price. Our shops are located in Cathays, Splott, Whitchurch, Ely, Llanishen, Barry and Penarth.
Charity Shop Secret Santa
Why not turn your office Secret Santa into a fundraising activity. And challenge colleagues to purchase a gift from a City Hospice Charity Shop. It’s more fun than traditional shopping. You are guaranteed to find something a bit different and you’ll be supporting families throughout Cardiff who need our services.
Christmas Jolly Jumpers Day
You know you can’t wait to wear yours! Yes, everyone has a Christmas jumper, and chances are just like you, your colleagues can’t wait to get in the Christmas spirit. So wear your festive ensemble to work and turn this into a ‘dress down day’ with a small donation to City Hospice from each employee. Don’t forget to take some photos and post on social media using the hashtag #CHJollyJumpers. We would love to share them!
Ask your employer to consider City Hospice
Why not ask your employer if they have a charity of the year, or a fund to support great, local charities. Often companies will match fund your fundraising efforts, organise their own events, make donations or donate volunteer time to a charity. City Hospice would be grateful for this support.
Donate your time
Your skills, enthusiasm and drive to make a difference can all be put to great use at City Hospice. We are recruiting volunteers in a number of roles, including; reception, our shops, graphic design, drivers, and gardening. The gift of your time is so special to the charity. You’ll be a valued member of the team and share in the feeling that you are making a difference to the people we support.
Encourage others to give
Christmas is a time to get together with friends and family. Why not arrange a fundraising event and enjoy the company of those you care about. It may be a quiz night, a coffee morning or a curry night where everyone brings a dish and makes a donation to City Hospice.
Make a Special Donation in Memory of a Loved one
Donate to remember loved ones and help raise funds to support care in your local community. Your special donation to City Hospice will include a dedication in our Book of Remembrance. The City Hospice Book of Remembrance is available online and will be on permanent display at Ty Hosbis. Every donation made to City Hospice will be matched by the Hodge Foundation, which means your kind gift will go even further to supporting families in our community.
