Clinical Team members are taking part in the City Hospice Sparkle Walk to support our patients and their families.

Members of City Hospice Clinical Team are excited to take part in the second night-time Sparkle Walk . The event takes place on Saturday 18th September 2021. This special 10k walk will let the memory of loved ones shine on, whilst helping us to raise funds to support patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families in Cardiff.

Katie Tucker, City Hospice Welfare Rights Officer explains:

“Having made the decision to sign up to the Sparkle walk I didn’t have to look far for company.  My Clinical team lead Terri, Clinical Nurse Specialist Kath and Clinical Nurse Specialist for the last 4 years, Kate are joining me in pounding the streets of Cardiff after dark to help raise awareness and support of the City Hospice.

This is such a positive and fun event that I wanted to participate in having seen how well received the walk was. I wanted to be part of it and show my support for patients, their families, and my colleagues at the Hospice.

All the support and funds raised allow us as a clinical team to continue our work in supporting patients at home, having their medical needs met, care needs and my role helping with welfare, and financial support. In particular, the Bereavement counselling service and Welfare Rights Service continue to support bereaved relatives through such a difficult time managing changes both financially, and emotionally. This walk shows that we are always still there.”

Daisy Magill, Fundraising and Events Coordinator said:

Thank you so much to Katie, Terri, Kath and Kate. We’re so excited to have you join us for this very special event. We know how proud you are to work for City Hospice and by taking part in the Sparkle Walk you are showing so much support to those who we care for and those closest to them.”
