We’re holding our annual Charity Art Auction on Friday (23rd November) to raise money for the patients and families we support. This year, we’ll be joined by BBC One Bargain Hunt auctioneer, Ben Rogers-Jones, who’ll be helping us to auction off the amazing artwork donations we’ve received.
Artists from across Wales, and indeed the UK, have been sending in their artwork with a total of 36 pieces being received this year. Supported by Thomas Carroll Group, we are hoping to auction off all of the lots and raise much needed funds so we can continue helping those in our care.
Special donations have been made by Sufia Shabani-Machin and Simon Machin, in honour of late husband and brother, Nick, who sadly died in August of this year. City Hospice has helped the family and provided the care they needed at the time and continue to do so.
Sufia says “This is my first painting after my husband Nick passed away from brain cancer in August 2018. Nick’s mother, Cecily, passed away years ago but with the blessing of Nick’s brother, Simon, I decided to donate her painting as well. Donating these painting was very important to me as City Hospice helped Nick and continues to help me through their counselling and complementary therapies.”
Liz Andrews, our Chief Executive, would like to thank all of the artists who have donated pieces of artwork to our auction. “They come from across Wales, the UK and even include donations from closer to home, from staff and also families we have helped. We are so grateful for your support. We look forward to seeing lots of our supporters at our auction on Friday.”
Donations have also come from Jayne Blenkin, a counsellor here at City Hospice. She has created ‘Bumble Bees’ and ‘Poppies’ by using pen and watercolour on canvas. They’re bright and uplifting and we can’t thank her enough for these pieces.
It’s free to come along so please let us know if you can make it by calling Nicky Piper on 02920 524150.
