Cardiff Councillor Ash Lister is supporting City Hospice by hosting a charity dinner in memory of his grandfather Chris Lomax.

Ash has fundraised for a number of years since his ‘Gramps’ Chris, also a former councillor for Grangetown, sadly passed away in 2016.

Ash & Gramps, Chris

Since Chris passed away Ash has chosen various causes which mean something to either himself or his loved ones – Diabetes UK Cymru, the UK Sepsis Trust and the NSPCC to name a few. His fundraising efforts have raised over £5000 for charity through sky-diving, hosting charity drag nights and most recently running the Cardiff half-marathon.

Explaining his choice of charity, Ash said:

“This year I want to support City Hospice as I’ve seen the impact of the amazing work they do – in caring for my Mum’s partner’s Mother and my Aunt and Uncle’s best friend – and I want to play my part in giving back to City Hospice.

As it has been five years since Gramp passed away I am working towards raising £5000 for charities close to my heart – including City Hospice. This dinner will be just one of the ways in which I help to raise awareness of the amazing work done by the Hospice and the funds to help these vitally important services continue and hopefully develop.”

The charity dinner is set to take place at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff, on Friday 16th September. Tickets are £40.00 and guests can look forward to live entertainment, wine on the tables, entry into a raffle (with additional raffle tickets available for purchase) and a disco.

City Hospice Fundraising Co-ordinator Lauren Guy said:

“We are so touched that Ash has chosen us to fundraise for us. I’m sure it will be a lovely evening and a great success in tribute of his much-loved and greatly missed grandfather. Proceeds from this event will help us continue to provide end-of-life care to those who need it in Cardiff. Thank you so much Ash!”
