3 Local ladies walk a marathon in support of City Hospice
Julia Bakshi and Julie Johnson together with their friend Charlotte Court decided to do a ‘Sunrise Walk’ covering the distance of a marathon – 26.2 miles. As existing supporters and active fundraisers for our charity they decided to create their own ‘Sunrise walk’ to help raise vital funds for City Hospice and 2 other great charities.
Julia and Julie are part of the team trekking the Great Wall of China for City Hospice in March 2021 and have kick started their fundraising by completing their marathon walk.
Julia told us:
We were supposed to be in London doing the moonwalk. But like most fundraising events it was cancelled. So with China being postponed until March 2021 and our training in full swing we decided to do the marathon combining our efforts for three causes. These are City Hospice, Breast Cancer and feed the key workers . We set off at 4.45am and took on the challenge of walking 26.2 miles.
We walked with social distancing in mind for ourselves and other walkers, runners and bikers. Our other half’s met us enroute and fed us chocolate and water! Friends FaceTimed us throughout our walk, which was invaluable. Without this support I’m sure it would have been more challenging. It was fun, amazing & awesome.
