Thornbury Nursing Services is supporting City Hospice’s Donate A Day campaign.
Thornbury Nursing Services donate 12 days of nursing care in support of the essential specialist care provided by City Hospice totalling £1800. They will choose a day per month over the next 12 months as their special Donate a Day to support our charity.
2020 and 2021 has been a challenging time for everyone, particularly those within healthcare. As a business, Thornbury Nursing Services and our sister company The Scottish Nursing Guild want to give something back. So, we created our ‘2022 Giving Back Programme’. We would like to sponsor a day of care every month throughout 2022 to help make a difference to patients and, as some of our own team are based in Cardiff, City Hospice seemed like the perfect partner. We hugely support their work caring for patients in their homes throughout Cardiff.
Kerry Yip, Area Co-ordinator, at Thornbury Nursing Services told us:
“My mum has very recently been referred to City Hospice and my sister Jo, who is my mums main carer has already been offered support and counselling. Having seen the Hospice first hand and meeting some of the warm and friendly staff, I feel reassured that my mum and family are going to get the best support possible. I cannot thank you enough!”

Maria Devish, Area Co-ordinator, at Thornbury Nursing Services explains:
My auntie’s wish when the decision was made for her to receive palliative care was she wanted to stay at home, the support provided by City Hospice helped made this come true. We asked numerous questions and you gave us answers, reassurance, helped with equipment and an ear to listen when it was needed (and so much more). Unfortunately, my aunty passed away in September 2021, we are now in Feb 2022 and we are still receiving calls to make sure we are all ok. To all of you and Kath especially who went above and beyond, thank you so much!
