Sitka Recruitment has chosen City Hospice as its charity of the year for 2024/25, supporting the vital palliative care and counselling services the charity provides to the local community.
Sitka Recruitment was formed by two friends and former colleagues, Ita and Karen who now have over 40 years of combined experience in the recruitment industry, specialising in marketing, finance, and HR recruitment in Wales and sometimes further afield.
Since its establishment in 2016, the company has remained dedicated to supporting local charities and fostering partnerships with organizations across Wales. Their latest commitment to City Hospice reflects a deep personal connection, as both Ita and Karen have been touched by the loss of loved ones, leaving them with a profound sense of responsibility to support City Hospice’s work.
We spoke with Ita & Karen,
“The work that City Hospice does is vital for the people of Cardiff. The charity supports over 500 patients at any one time, not to mention their families. This is a phenomenal amount of people, and we just want to play our part in helping more families through such a difficult time. What the charity does resonates with us on a personal level too and our values are aligned”.
The team has committed to City Hospice’s 40 Charity Challenge, including Ita’s participation in an abseil event. They also have a strong network in the Cardiff area and aim to support fundraising activities while making contributions from their fees. Ita also recently joined the Board of Trustees at City Hospice. Additionally, plans for hosting a fundraising event are underway, reflecting Sitka Recruitment’s dedication to making a tangible difference in their community.
Encouraging other businesses to join the cause, Sitka Recruitment highlights the imperative role played by corporate support in fulfilling City Hospice’s mission. They urge businesses to review the charity’s latest annual report to grasp the vital need for collective involvement. Read more here.
Nicky Piper, Corporate Partnerships Manager told us,
“On behalf of everyone at City Hospice, we want to say a massive thank you to Sitka for choosing City Hospice as your Charity of the Year. It’s an honour to have Ita & Karen support our mission to care for the community of Cardiff and we are moved by your enthusiasm and commitment to support our vital work”.
City Hospice, Cardiff’s local hospice, is the only provider of home-based specialist palliative care in the capital. In addition to providing care and services including welfare advice and complementary therapies to patients with terminal or life limiting illnesses, the charity offers counselling and support services for their families.
The charity needs to raise £ 2 million each year to provide their services free of charge and the work would not be possible without the support from the local community. Funds raised by Sitka Recruitment will ensure the charity can continue to care for patients and their families at what can be the most difficult time of their lives.
