This year, Sarah and her family will take part in their first Sparkle Walk in memory of her beloved Bamps, Terence, who died in May 2026 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Terence was diagnosed in April 2026, which came as a huge shock to the whole family. Following appointments to discuss his treatment options, he decided that he did not want any further investigations or treatment.

That was when the family first met the doctors and nurses from City Hospice.

Terence’s wish was to remain at home with his girls, Sarah, her mum and her sister. From the moment City Hospice became involved, the team worked alongside the family to make sure his wishes could be met.

Sarah said: “They helped us to keep Bamps home, pain-free and comfortable for the next six weeks until he passed away.”

During those six weeks, the family built a close bond with the City Hospice team, who supported them through an incredibly difficult time.

“Bamps truly was the most amazing person, all of the nurses will confirm that!! We built such an amazing bond with everyone we dealt with over the six weeks. Without them we would have been completely lost.”

Before he died, Terence asked his family to thank City Hospice for everything they had done for him. So, when Sarah came across the Sparkle Walk, she knew it was something she wanted to do.

Sarah will be joined by her husband, Richard, and their two daughters, Ella and Amber as they take on the route together. The evening will be a chance to remember a much-loved Bamps, while raising money to help other families receive the same care and support they did.
