This April, Rhodri will be one of 50,000 runners taking on the TCS London Marathon, proudly wearing a #TeamHospice vest in loving memory of his dad.

Back in October 2025, Rhodri completed the Cardiff Half Marathon for the third time, running in support of City Hospice. At the time, he was running for his dad, who had been receiving palliative care from the City Hospice team since 2020.

Reflecting on the race, Rhodri shared:

“I’ve seen first-hand the incredible work City Hospice does, not just for my family, but for so many others across Cardiff. Running for them means so much to me.”

Wearing his City Hospice T-shirt, Rhodri completed his third Cardiff Half Marathon driven by the thought of his dad cheering him on along the route.

“Being able to wear the City Hospice t-shirt, knowing I’m helping to make a difference, is what keeps me going. Hearing the support from the crowd and seeing other runners wearing the City Hospice t-shirt is fantastic,” he said.

Rhodri’s motivation came from his dad’s remarkable strength and positivity. “Seeing what my dad was going through every day is what motivated me to keep wanting to run the halves.”

In the months since the race, Rhodri’s dad sadly passed away. His loss has deepened Rhodri’s connection to City Hospice and strengthened his determination to continue supporting the charity that cared so compassionately for his family.

Now, Rhodri is preparing for his biggest challenge yet: the 2026 TCS London Marathon, which he will run in loving memory of his dad.

“City Hospice meant so much to my dad and to all of us. Their kindness, support and care made the most difficult time a little easier. Running the London Marathon is my way of saying thank you – and keeping Dad’s memory close.”

Everyone at City Hospice is incredibly grateful for Rhodri’s dedication and courage. We’ll be cheering him on every step of the way as he takes on the streets of London next year.

Rhodri has already exceeded his £2,000 fundraising target and continues to raise vital funds for City Hospice. If you would like to support Rhodri, please visit his JustGiving page below.
