New local business supports City Hospice’s Forever Flowers campaign

Rhian Jones has recently opened Green Door Bakery on Cyncoed Road, Cardiff. Rhian opened the bakery in May which is proving to be very popular with the community of North Cardiff. Like many people, Rhian took up baking during lockdown and her cake making and delivery service was such a success she gave up her full-time job in retail management to concentrate on her new business.

This led to her opening her very own bakery with delicious homemade cakes, a wonderful selection of bread and snacks available daily as well as delicious drinks.

Rhian has decided to support City Hospice by having a charity collecting box available for people to donate their loose change and is also supporting the hospice’s’ in memory campaign’, Forever Flowers.

Rhian explains why she is supporting City Hospice:

Rhian and her Mum Claire taking part in the Sparkle Walk with a large group of friends

“ I first heard of the work of City Hospice when one of my close friends lost his Dad a few years ago when were just 21. City Hospice provided exceptional care to him and was there to support the family through a very difficult time. I got involved with some fundraising events in Mike’s memory such as the Sparkle Walk and a 59 mile challenge to raise money to support the vital work of the charity and I’m delighted now to have a collecting pod at Green Door Bakery.

Rhian also told us why she is supporting Forever Flowers:

“When I heard about Forever Flowers I just wanted to get involved. Sunflowers are my favourite flowers – they are so bright and cheerful. We have experienced bereavement recently as a family and I think it’s a very special way to remember those we love by having a sunflower as part of the display in Cardiff Castle.”

Lauren Guy, Fundraising Co-ordinator at City Hospice said:

“We are so grateful to Rhian from Green Door Bakery for all her support with past events and accepting our collecting pod. We’re also delighted she is helping us promote Forever Flowers this year too as it’s such an important way for us to support those who have lost a loved one through their grief.  It’s great to have the support of a wonderful new local business too and we wish Rhian every success at Green Door Bakery.  Thank you so much Rhian!”
