This June, Denis McDonald is holding a band & quiz night at Rumney Rugby Club to celebrate Jackie in her 50th year, in aid of City Hospice.
A much-loved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, Jackie was described as caring, loyal and well-liked by all that came to know her. A civil servant in the Welsh Government, Jackie was also a respected member of the Government Social Research Service. Jackie was diagnosed with a rare type of sarcoma in 2018 and sadly passed away peacefully in October 2019, receiving support from City Hospice in her final weeks.
Her dad Denis said,
“Jackie was an incredible and loving mother to Megan, Josie and step-daughter Ffion. She demonstrated strong principles and beliefs, good humour and all above kindness throughout her life. She loved her family and was a devoted wife to Richard. Jackie was deeply loved by so many people and will always be missed.
When Jackie was desperately ill, the team at City Hospice were immensely supportive to her and her family. The flexible, professional and caring support was so important at that time. I hope holding this event will support the work that is so important for our community.
Jackie was so sociable, she was known by many and this night will give us a chance to reminisce. We will always remember Jackie will love and admiration, we are proud of her many contributions to peoples lives”.
Katie Vaughan, Fundraising Coordinator:
“Thank you so much to Denis and his family for putting on this lovely event to celebrate Jackie’s life. It sounds that it will be a special day to remember Jackie, whilst ensuring there is plenty of fun, laughter and happy memories shared.”
