Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is supporting City Hospice’s Sparkle Walk, an annual 10km night-time walk in north Cardiff.
Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is a not-for-profit company providing water and sewerage services to over 3 million people across Wales and parts of western England. Unique in the UK utilities sector, the organisation reinvests all financial surpluses into service improvements and environmental protection, with no shareholders.
The Sparkle Walk will see hundreds of supporters take to the streets of Llandaff and Whitchurch in memory of their loved ones, with the chance to leave a heartfelt message in the hospice’s garden during the event.
Funds raised by the Sparkle Walk will support the work of City Hospice, the only provider of home-based specialist palliative care in Cardiff. As well as providing care and services such as welfare advice and complementary therapies to patients, the charity offers counselling and support services for its patients’ families.
In addition to supporting the Sparkle Walk, Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water has also selected City Hospice as its charity of the year for the south-east region, reflecting the company’s commitment to give back to the communities it works in.
Claire Roberts, Head of Community Engagement at Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, said: “Our goal at Welsh Water is to support local communities, and we are excited to work in partnership with City Hospice, our regional charity of choice, which is such an inspiring organisation. The charity was repeatedly recommended by colleagues and local groups for the outstanding support and care they provide. We are proud to work with such a wonderful organisation which provides such exceptional care to those in need.
“We look forward to collaborating with them to create a lasting impact in the community through meaningful events and the Sparkle Walk is just one of the many powerful events hosted by City Hospice. We’re proud to be supporting the hospice for this special occasion, which powerfully illustrates the number of lives they’ve touched through their compassionate end of life care.”
Mac Smith, Fundraising and Events Manager at City Hospice, said: “We are thrilled to be hosting our Sparkle Walk again this year and to be partnering with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water both as a key event supporter and as their charity of the year.
“The Sparkle Walk is always a special event in the calendar and is a wonderful way to celebrate our loved ones. We are incredibly grateful to Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water for their support as the Sparkle Walk enters its sixth year, and we look forward to continuing and growing this memorable event for years to come.”
