Cycle from Cardiff to Paris: Join Carter Lauren Construction on this epic challenge

City Hospice supporters are invited to take on an unforgettable adventure this September as Carter Lauren Construction, led by Welsh rugby legend Shane Williams, launches an extraordinary fundraising challenge: a four-day cycle from City Hospice in Cardiff to Paris.

This incredible event will raise vital funds for City Hospice while giving riders the experience of a lifetime.


The Route

Thursday 17th September – Cardiff to Frome

  • Departing from City Hospice, Whitchurch, cyclists will cover approximately 80 miles before an overnight stay at the Premier Inn in Frome.

Friday 18 September – Frome to Portsmouth 

  • A scenic 75–85 mile ride to Portsmouth, where the group will board an overnight ferry to Caen, complete with sleeper cabins (4 riders per cabin)

Saturday 19 September – Caen to Evreux

  • Upon arrival in France, riders will cycle 85–95 miles to Evreux, staying at Hotel de L’Orme, Akena.

Sunday 20 September – Evreux to Paris

  • The final challenge covers 70–80 miles into beautiful Paris, followed by a celebratory night out and an overnight stay at Hotel Vacances Bleues Provinces Opéra.

Monday 21 September – Return to Cardiff

  • The group will travel via Eurostar to St Pancras, where a dedicated bus will return riders to City Hospice. Bikes will be transported back to Cardiff by support vehicles.

Full Support Throughout the Ride

To keep riders safe, comfortable, and fuelled, the event includes:

  • Two full support vehicles carrying luggage, spare kit, tools, and nutrition
  • Water is available at all official stops
  • Pre‑planned routes downloadable to bike computers
  • Breakfast and evening meals are provided daily
  • Planned rest stops suitable for riders of all abilities
  • Bike transport back to Cardiff after the event

Costs and Fundraising

To take part, each rider must:

  • Pay a £200 participation fee (to Carter Lauren Construction) by end of February 2026
  • Commit to raising a minimum of £1,250 through sponsorship, events, or JustGiving
    (guidance and links will be provided)

Aside from personal alcoholic drinks, all event costs—including accommodation, ferry, Eurostar travel, support vehicles, kit, and meals—are covered by Carter Lauren Construction or fundraising efforts.

Places are currently limited to 30 riders.
