Brogue Does Beaujolais marks 10 years, raising an extraordinary £583,000 for charity, including City Hospice and Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity

City Hospice ambassadors Chris Macnamara of The Brogue Trader and Spiro Borg celebrated a major milestone this year as their renowned Brogue Does Beaujolais fundraiser marked its 10th anniversary, bringing the total raised for charity since its inception to an outstanding £583,000.

Returning to Cornerstone, Cardiff, the much-loved event once again welcomed guests on Beaujolais Day, Thursday 20 November, to enjoy the first taste of the season’s new Beaujolais wine.

A series of live and silent auctions once again showcase the generosity of attendees and sponsors, helping Chris and Spiro raise an incredible £35,000 for charity this year. With match funding from The Hodge Foundation for City Hospice, the final fundraising total reached £70,000.

Reflecting on the 10-year journey, Spiro Borg, City Hospice Ambassador, said:

“Since Chris has the idea of ‘Brogue Does Beaujolais’, it’s been my pleasure to be involved and see the event grow each year. A lot of had work, sweat and tears have paid off for such wonderful causes.

My gratitude, as always, goes out to all the many sponsors, supporters and especially the friends who have supported the event over the past 10 years, nine of which have been at the wonderful Cornerstone”.

City Hospice Corporate Partnerships Manager, Nicky Piper said,

“Chris and Spiro continue to go above and beyond for the charity, and reaching 10 years of Brogue Does Beaujolais is an incredible achievement. Their dedication, passion and drive have transformed this event into one of the city’s most successful annual fundraisers.

We are deeply grateful to them, their sponsors and their guests whose generosity ensures we can continue providing vital specialist palliative care for patients and families in Cardiff. We are also delighted that this support extends to Noah’s Ark, helping two important local causes.”
